About KMDIA
What is KMDIA?
The Kerala Medical Device Industry Association is an industry-led platform representing organisations across Kerala's medical device and MedTech ecosystem. It works to strengthen collective representation, collaboration, manufacturing capability, regulatory and quality awareness, and market readiness.
Is KMDIA a government organisation?
No. KMDIA is an independent, non-political, not-for-profit organisation constituted as a Section 8 company. Its work involves engagement with government and public institutions, but it is not a government body and holds no regulatory authority.
Is KMDIA the same as KMTC?
No. KMDIA is an industry association formed by and for medical device companies. The Kerala Medical Technology Consortium is a Government of Kerala initiative connecting research, academia, industry, healthcare, startups and government across the medical technology lifecycle. The two organisations are separate and have different mandates.
What is KMDIA's vision?
Making Kerala the MedTech Hub of India and positioning India as the MedTech Hub of the World.
What areas of the industry does KMDIA cover?
Medical rubber products, diagnostics and laboratory devices, implants and instruments, medical electronics, active and therapeutic devices, assistive technologies, hospital equipment and imaging, biologics and biomaterials, consumables and surgical instruments.
Membership
Who can express membership interest?
Medical device manufacturers, startups, ancillary suppliers, specialist service providers, professional and trade bodies, research organisations and other institutions working with the sector. The Secretariat confirms the applicable category during review.
What are the membership categories?
Three: Member, for licensed manufacturers, which is the voting category; Associate Member, for ancillary suppliers and specialist service providers; and Institutional Member, for trade bodies, professional organisations and research institutions.
What is the membership fee?
The founding annual membership fee is ₹10,000. Eligible startups with annual revenue below ₹2 crore pay ₹5,000. Taxes are applied as required and shown separately on the invoice, and membership is renewable annually.
Does submitting the interest form make my organisation a member?
No. The form records interest only. The Secretariat will review the information and communicate the appropriate next step. Membership begins only after the authorised approval process and required formalities are complete.
Does KMDIA membership replace a manufacturing licence or certification?
No. Membership does not replace CDSCO or State licensing, registration, quality-system requirements, standards, certifications, or any other legal or regulatory obligation.
Can organisations outside Kerala join?
KMDIA represents Kerala's medical device industry, so membership is built around organisations with a meaningful presence in the state: a registered office, a manufacturing facility, or an R&D or operations base. If your organisation is planning to establish in Kerala, submit an interest form and the Secretariat will advise.
Can a startup without revenue join?
Yes. KMDIA actively encourages early-stage innovators. Pre-revenue ventures qualify for the concessional startup fee, and the Secretariat will confirm the applicable category based on the organisation's activity.
What does one corporate group, one vote mean?
Related entities within a single corporate group hold one vote between them, so that no group holds disproportionate influence over association decisions. Voting sits with the Member category.
Support and Programmes
Can KMDIA obtain regulatory approval for a member?
No. KMDIA may organise information sessions, capability programmes or expert connections, but regulatory decisions are made only by the responsible authorities.
Does KMDIA guarantee funding or government procurement?
No. KMDIA may share scheme information, represent common industry priorities or facilitate relevant connections. It cannot guarantee selection, funding, tender eligibility, purchase preference, orders or contracts.
Will KMDIA provide certification or compliance services?
KMDIA organises awareness and learning programmes, but it is not a regulator, a notified body, a laboratory, a certification body or a professional adviser, and it does not issue certification of any kind.
How can my organisation collaborate with KMDIA?
Use the contact form and choose the most relevant enquiry type: programme, research or academic collaboration, event, media, institutional engagement, or general enquiry. The Secretariat will route the request.
Events and Updates
How do I register for the grand launch function?
Register through the event interest form. The venue, timing, programme and attendance instructions are sent to registered contacts. Registering interest does not guarantee a seat, as attendance is subject to capacity.
How can I receive news and event updates?
Register your interest in membership or an event and you can opt in to association updates at the same time. You can also contact the Secretariat to be added to the mailing list.

Where is KMDIA located?
The registered office is at 9/595A, Kadayiruppu, Pattimattom, Ernakulam, Kerala 682311, India. Visits are by prior appointment; please contact the Secretariat before travelling.
